Meet the Team

At KVS, we value life experience, passion and personal sparks as the most enduring and essential qualities in our staff. Our teachers are known as mentors, reflecting the partnership that we consider essential in a holistic approach to academic learning and personal development. Our team is creative, resourceful, collaborative, and fun, and we deeply believe in transforming education.

As a child-safe organisation, we value diversity in our community, expect engagement from families, and ensure we have practices in place to allow all children and young people to be safe and feel safe. Koonwarra Village School is focused on the safety and wellbeing of its students at all times and has a zero tolerance approach to child abuse and harm.

When our school first opened, there was a natural grouping of younger and older children into two key spaces in the school. The younger children (Foundation and Level 1) were inspired by the beautiful natural sunlight that comes into their space, so this became the Sun Room. The older children (Levels 2 - 6) were inspired by the Triskelion school logo and are known as Triskels. These two learning communities continue to function as our two multi-age ‘classrooms’.

We are looking for a creative and energetic teacher with a natural affinity for alternative education to oversee the academic, social and emotional development of students from Year 2 to Year 6.

We are looking for educators with the following strengths:

  • Educators who care passionately about democratic education models and social emotional learning, and

  • Educators who are self-motivated, adaptive, adventurous, resilient and playful.

Alongside these qualities, you will also need:

  • A passion for life-long learning, a demonstrated growth mindset and well developed executive skills.

We expect people to come to us with a thirst for their own learning, and the ability to be flexible and highly adaptive to new situations and challenges. Working in a non-traditional structure can be challenging and can also stimulate lots of personal growth. If you have varied life experiences and thrive in indoor and outdoor teaching settings, we would love to hear from you!
